The 1989 Queensland State Election - Bribie Island
Journalist Bob Bottom, a resident of Bribie Island uncovered evidence of vote fraud in the 1989 Queensland State election. Hundreds of fictitious names were added to the electoral roll using addresses that simply didn't exist. During the 1989 election one of three booths showed an increase in votes cast of 58 % over the 1987 Federal election, the two remaining booths on the island did not show any dramatic decrease in voter turnout to account for the discrepancy.
